If I Were in Charge of the World
IF I WERE IN CHARGE OF THE WORLD
BY: Judith Viorst
Adapted by: McKena Stocks
If I were in charge of the world
I’d cancel Monday mornings,
ALL food allergies,
HOMEWORK and also,
Hot, hot summers with no air conditioning.
If I were in charge of the world
There’d be castles on every corner,
Free electronics and,
Ice cream at every meal of every day.
If I were in charge of the world
You wouldn’t have diseases,
You wouldn’t have shots,
You wouldn’t have eggplant,
Or bedtimes earlier than 10:00,
You wouldn’t even have bedtimes.
If I were in charge of the would
Students would be teacher and teachers would be students,
Everyone would be genius,
All veggies would be desserts,
And a person who sometimes doesn’t clean their room,
And sometimes forgets the broom,
Would still be allowed to be,
In charge of the world.
Poetry
Author's Note: Some really good family friends came over this weekend and i wrote some poetry with the kids. Here i was just havin fun. I decided that I was going to do acrostic jut for fun because this form of poetry is easy for me.
My favorite color is purple. I like
Cold drinks in winter, I recieved a
Kindle for Christmas. My youngest sister is always
Excited to see me. I can be
Naughty sometimes, but it the end I always
Add laughter to make it a good time.
Singing is a passion
That I love to do. I can be very
Observate of my surroundings. I blieve that
Chocolate is the BEST food every invented. I think
Kangaroos are overrated and
Soft ice cream is gross (meaning melted).

5 pararaph Essay
“I believe that everything happens for a reason. People change so that you can learn to let go, things go wrong so that you appreciate them when they're right, you believe lies so you eventually learn to trust no one but yourself, and sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.” (Marilyn Monroe) People go through obstacles every day. Sometimes the day does not go the way that we want. Does that mean that we give up? For some people the answer is no; then unfortunately for others the answer is yes. If you are a person that says yes, that does not mean that you “failed” ; it simply means that you haven’t tried hard enough or that you think that you’re out of options. However, in reality you have just given up trying. Even though you don’t have a “picture perfect” life, that doesn’t mean that you can’t succeed.
You wake up on a Wednesday morning and your favorite song is on. You think “Now that’s the way to start your day!” You get out bed and run down to the kitchen to get your breakfast. Your mom is already up and has your pancakes on the griddle. You go over and give her a big hug. She says, “How about you go and get dressed while I finish your pancakes.” You do the usual
do-I-have-to moan, and go upstairs. You finish your morning with a smile on your face and food in your stomach. She walks you out to the bus stop and waits with you until the bus finally arrives. “Have a great day, honey!” Now that is a picture-perfect day.
Unfortunately, for some people that is just a fantasy for them. Their reality is ten times worse. You’re an eleven-year-old girl and this is how your day starts. You wake up twenty minutes late because you were up until 11:00 pm with you sick little brother. You have school in fifteen minutes and your parents are not up to drive you meaning that you have to walk a twenty minute walk in fifteen. Plus you have to wake up your little brother and take him down to the neighbor’s house because they watch him for the day until you get home from school. You have just walked out of the house and school is now starting in five minutes. You think I will never make it in time. You sprint as fast as you can until you get there and you are still ten minutes late. Your teacher is disappointed in you and gives you another lunch detention. That is pretty much sums how the rest of the school day goes. Well, until you get home at least.
Now you have seen both sides of the coin. You might be thinking Wow! I would much rather be the person in the first paragraph. Some of us have that picture perfect life and some of us have that alone life where we have grow up to fast. One thing I feel, that I think that everyone should know is that you’re never really alone. Everyone in your family could have left you in the dark. There is always one place you can go. He will never let you down. He will help and guide you. His name is God and here’s how it works . . . There is only 1 step . . . talk to him. This might be an abnormal concept for you. There are several different ways to do this. You can just talk to Him out loud of to yourself. You could fold your hands and bow your head. You could be walking down a school hallway and say “Lord, please help me get to class on time,” and he would hear you. The coolest part about God is that He is always listening to you. He listens to everything that you have to say.
You could be the poorest child on the planet or the richest child in the neighborhood, God would still listen. He will love you and always be a shoulder to cry on. The most important part of this whole concept is having faith; because even though we cannot feel him or see him, he is still there. So, this holiday season, no matter if by yourself or a big feast with family, talk to God and thank Him for all the wonderful things that you have.
